Projects
Refurbishment of the Walkway sign, work is nearly complete, and the sign will be unveiled in early December. Club members have repaired the sign canopy, replaced the posts and updated the sign graphics.
this project has been supported by a number of local businesses, who's help and support has been invaluable
In 2021 the club purchased a purpose built food caravan, which is fully kitted out. the van has been a regular sight at local A&P shows.
The club and local community volunteers undertake the maintenance and of the Paparoa Bushwalk. The walkway work has been undertaken over a number of years, further details can be found under the walkway banner above
The bush walkway, is the home is a significant Kauri block and is protected under a covenant by the QE2 trust. To ensure the area is kept clear of Kauri dieback, the club manages pest control and the provision of boot cleaning station within the area. this work is undertaken by local volunteers and club member.
In addition, the area is of significant arch logical interest. Detail of which are described under the Walkway banner above
Supply of firewood to the local community has been a longstanding project undertaken by the club. In recent years club members have supplied in excess of a 100 cubic meters of firewood.
Whilst the supply of good wood has resulted in a reduction over the last 12 months the club is happy to support the local community in removing and splitting, for further information contact club members or e mail lionsclubpaparoa@gmail.com
